So, Tuesday January 31st I took the NCLEX and passed!!! Nursing boards done and passed! I am legally, and officially a registered nurse with my bachelors degree. It feels so good to be done with school and licensed to work. I passed with the minimum number of questions (75) and felt pretty good about the test! I am very grateful that I did not get all 265 questions! I also have a job at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on the 5th floor. It is the Cardiac Progressive Care unit. I am loving it so far! I started the job on 1/16 and started doing my clinical orientation on Jan. 23rd. My last 2 shifts I have taken 3 patients (full pt load is 4) and have been really busy! There is definitely a lot to learn! Many of the nurses i have talked to said that you feel uncomfortable and rushed for about a year and then you really get a hold of prioritizing/time management. It will be great and this floor is a wonderful place to start!

It feels really different to only be working now...very nice, I will not miss tests, grades, etc! It is also nice to be making real money and have great health insurance! The perks of having a real job and being a working woman. I am so grateful that I passed my test and that I have this wonderful job :) The Lord is definitely guiding my life!

Christmas Time in California

The week before Christmas I got to spend time in California with the family. It was especially great because Kelly and the kids were there! I love them so so much, and they make life great :)

Kinley is 18 months and SO CUTE! She is starting to talk more. My favorite thing she says is "baba" for her bottle, but the way she says it is more like a lamb, like "babaaaah". And she LOVES to dance.
When you put on music she will shake her head and body back and forth so she wiggles and that is her dancing. She is also doing forward rolls. Whenever I am there with the kids I have them work on their gymnastics. They show me how long they can hold their handstands and how well they can do their cartwheels. Kinley loves to watch and then try to do the same things! She is really good for 18 months. She is also VERY snuggly. I LOVE snuggling babies, it feels so safe and peaceful. Anyway, I had so much fun with the kids, and the rest of my family.

This is River. My brother's dog. He is a cute thing. I thought it was cute how he was sitting on the stairs :)

Katelyn finally let me do her hair. She always has bad tangles, and never wants anyone to do her hair because it hurts to brush them out. She is so beautiful. Katelyn discovered the Wizard of Oz on this trip. She is like me when I was little. When I found a movie I liked, I would watch it over and over again...remember Wild Hearst Can't be Broken :) Anyway, we watched the Wizard of Oz like 5 times in 2 days and sang the songs a ton! Then I gave Katelyn the movie Anastasia for Christmas and she loved it! We watched it that night and the next morning. I love this little girl.

Jackson is ALL BOY. He is getting so big and strong. Remember when he was so little! Anyway, for Christmas we got him a pair of BYU basketball shorts, which he is wearing in the above picture. He LOVED them! He put them on when he opened them and wore them the next day. I am glad I chose well for him this year! He especially loved them because we gave his dad the same pair! Now they can match :) I think we did well with Christmas presents this year!

One of our Christmas traditions is to go to Balboa, walk out to Ruby's on the pier, eat a yummy dinner with a whole lot of family (practically taking over and filling up the whole restaurant), and then walking along the shore line to look at the decorated houses. Many of the houses go to all lengths to make it very cheery and Christmasy. I love it! As we were walking out to Ruby's the sun was setting, and you could see Catalina Island SO CLEARLY! It was so beautiful and I felt like I was in Hawaii or some tropical Island. It was a perfect California night.

Dad and Dee took me, Kelly, and Mark to the K1 speed racing place, It was so much fun! Basically adult go karts. We got to wear real helmets and everything! When we first took off, Dad and Dee were racing fast, and Mark came up behind them as Dee was stopping and he got stuck under railing! It was pretty funny. I came in last place. I like racing, but don't like feeling like the cart might flip. It was so fun! I can't wait for Pete to come next time.

Last Day of School !

This is a picture of when I had my last day of nursing school. It was pretty weird to think that I was not going to come back as a student, but as an alumnus. It was a great last day. I will definitely miss school and learning new things, but I will not miss the tests, stress, and anxiety that accompanied school.

After school, my dear friend Sarah and I went to the Cocoa bean for yummy cupcakes, and chocolate mint drinks. It was the perfect end to a great day! Farewell undergrad.

When any person comes to BYU and hears about the intramural sports program, they get excited. What is even better....winning the championship in the intramural program. Throughout my college years I have been on quite a few different teams, winning games, but never the championships. Well my last semester of school, one of my friends in the nursing program put a nursing flag football team together. I had SO MUCH FUN! I love flag football, and sometimes wish it was tackle football, hah. It is also how I hurt my knee. Luckily my knee has been recovering and I can walk! Anyway, I obviously didn't play on the team once I got hurt, but I still supported! Fortunately my team made it to the championship, and guess what.......WE WONNNNNNNNN. BEST DAY!!!! Who knew nurses were so good at flag football ;)

Seriously I am so happy about this. This T-shirt is one of my most prized possessions from my time at BYU along with meeting my husband and graduating.

Thanksgiving

We went to California for Thanksgiving this year! First time in two years :) We had a great week long vacation. It was so relaxing, just what we needed during the semester!

While we were there we went to the Mission Viejo mall to shop. As we were walking by stores, Peter stopped, grabbed my arm, and said, "Car, there is a LEGO STORE HERE!!!!!!!" He was so so excited ( I really did marry a little boy...I love it!)

We also got to spend a lot of time with Chris, Cheyenne, and Baby Weston!!!!!!!!!!!! I even got to snuggle him one morning :) He is so darn cute!

Unfortunately I did not take any pictures at our family Thanksgiving feast, but we did the tradition family picture on the fireplace at grampy's house and had a wonderful time being with family :) It was a great vacation!

"Those who choose to follow Christ choose to be changed" - Ezra Taft Benson

President Monson gave the devotional this morning and in his address he mentioned this quote. It stuck with as this morning during my daily scripture reading I finished the Book of Mormon for the fourth time. I didn't know I was so close to the end and when I looked at the next page and realized I was done, my heart yearned for more.

Daily Scripture study is one of the BEST parts of my day. I am so grateful that I have made it a habit and a time that I hold dear. It is my time to learn, read, ponder, and be led by the Spirit. I guess with finishing the Book of Mormon and the quote above about being changed by Christ I am here to reflect on my change.

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since I was eight years old. I have always believed in Christ, gone to church, and tried to be a good person. However, it was not until 2008 that I truly desired to know Christ. Up to that point I had not established the habit of daily scripture reading. President Hinckley at that time had issued a challenge to read the Book of Mormon in a certain amount of time. My sister Kelly asked me if I was doing it and I had said no, I was too busy. I don't remember exactly what she said, but I do remember it hit a spot in my heart that made me think how blessed I was with SO MANY things and I was saying I was too busy to read my scriptures. I decided to try just reading one scripture verse everyday before I went to bed. This seemed easy; i wondered why I hadn't done just one verse before. As the months passed on, I began reading pages, then chapters and those too seemed easy. As I read the Book of Mormon my testimony of Christ was strengthened. The examples of Alma and Amulek and the changed Alma the younger inspired me. At this point I began taking a New Testament class that focused on Christ. My teacher Brother Wayment taught about Christ in a way that helped me come to know Christ's personality better and made me want to know Christ even more.

Since that period in my life, I have gotten to know my Savior better through daily scripture study, sincere prayer, fasting, church and temple attendance. He has helped me through hard trials in my life. Since that time in my life I have chosen to follow Christ with a more dedicated heart and I can say that I have been changed. I strive my best to stand as a witness of Christ at all times, in all things, and in all places. I love him and know that he is the perfect example to follow in all things. I have his name written upon my heart and I am dedicated disciple of Christ, and want nothing but to serve him in all that I do. I am happiest when I am trying to be like Him.

Peter and I finished the New Testament a few months ago. I love reading about the Savior and his life. He truly is the perfect example.

I am excited to read the Book of Mormon again and my goal through this read is to memorize the scripture mastery verses from the old and new testament.

This is not scripture mastery, but it is one of my favorite scriptures:

Romans 8: 38-39

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

California Weekend and Baby Weston

This past weekend one of my best friends from college got married in the San Diego Temple. Congratulations Kimmy! It was a beautiful sealing and you both looked so happy and perfect for each other! I am so glad we came down for it!

Kimmy's wedding happened on Friday. On Saturday I went garage sailing with Chris, my brother, and Cheyenne, my sister-in-law. Then I went to the beach with my mom, whitney, josh, and calvin. Then we came home and had dinner. That night, Cheyenne's water broke and they went to the hospital. They were so excited! I have never heard Chris giggle so much! We anxiously waited for their call through the night. Chris called us at 0530 and mom and I took off to Mission Hospital. At 7:13 am Weston Frederick Hewett came into the world! Isn't he so cute!

If you know me, you know how much I love babies and seeing babies be born. Cheyenne let my mom and myself to be in the room so we could take pictures and video. It was such a special experience! Everything went well and Cheyenne and Weston were both healthy and safe. The miracle of birth is so amazing and strengthens my testimony of God and his amazing plan.

I have now seen 7 births and it never ceases to amaze me.

I have now been to 2 births in my family. I was there for Katelyn Colleen Jennings and now for Weston Frederick Hewett.

I am so happy I got to be there! Seriously, what are the odds that the one weekend in October I randomly come down, Weston decides to come. NOT RANDOM!! Thanks to my Heavenly Father for arranging such a special experience :)

So, Friday was the football game! We went to Brick Oven before for dinner with one of Peter's childhood friends and guess who we saw there! We finally got our picture with Cosmo! SO stoked.

So now onto the so close part. It requires a bit of background story. On Thursday night I hurt my knee playing flag football. I was SO mad because if you know me, chances are you my saga of injuries and having to use crutches...they are back in my house! (Getting better now). Anyway, We had ticked for the student section with pretty good seats, BUT I would have had to stand the whole time. I told Pete, I can't stand the whole time on 1 leg. Impossible. So, we looked into how we could sit by the handicapped section. Pete went to talk to the people, they said they would take care of us and they sure did! FRONT row of the bleachers. It was like 7 rows up. I was SO GRATEFUL that I could enjoy the game and not have to worry about my injury! Thanks to BYU for taking care of their injured students :) So the first shot is just to show how close we were.

Graduation

I just realize that I never posted any pictures from when Peter and I walked for Graduation! Pete graduated in April and I am actually done in December, he waited and I walked early so we could walk together :) It was SUCH a fun day. They did a really cool graduation ceremony, very intimate where they put up a power point with everyone's picture and favorite quote on it. It was so fun to celebrate the end of the undergrad degree!

Peter's family that came down to celebrate and watch!

This is Beth. She is my faculty mentor and I have been privileged to do research with her this last year. I have learned so much from her and had many opportunities to write, research, learn , and grow! I even got to go to Washington D.C. to present research with her and a couple other students! It was an awesome experience.

This is Sarah. She is one of my best friends in the program. We met in Microbiology and have been good friends since. I got her addicted to Twixes that semester and she would tell me all about her life. We love working together and just have fun together. Love ya Sarah!

Graduation ceremony was great. It felt good to celebrate so much hard work. 5 years in college and I will be done in December! Pete is so excited for his Masters too! We are just grateful to have had such a FANTASTIC education here at Brigham Young University. It really is a unique opportunity to study at BYU. I am so grateful for all the prayers we said at the beginning of classes, how my teachers tied even chemistry into a gift from Christ, and the loving spirit that I felt on this campus. I will always have fond memories of all the friends I made, football and basketball games I went to, awesome classes I took, and finding a profession that I truly connect with. Learning the Healer's Art (nursing) has been hard work, but fulfilling, and I know that I am happy with my choice and I think my Savior would be happy with my choice as well. The End!

Last First Day and First Day of Master's School!

2 Years!

Two years ago on August 15th I married my best friend. This was the best day of my life! The past two years have been absolutely wonderful. I am so lucky to be married to such a catch and I'm sure he feels the same way ;) Unfortunately we couldn't celebrate it on the day because Peter was out of town, but when he comes back you bet we will! I love being married :)

Ever since I went to visit my sister last summer, I have become a huge fan of HGTV and design shows! They are so fun to watch. This picture is the intro to one of our favorite shows, Income Property. It shows how people turn their crappy apts into places they can rent out. The host though can be pretty cheesy sometimes and this picture shows it. We love making this face and saying, "Guess who I am!" Other shows we enjoy are design start, design on a dime, property virgins, and House Hunters! Thanks goodness most of the shows are online since we don't have cable now!

So for the weekends that Pete and I have been together in Provo, we have been hiking quite a bit! It's so much fun. We both LOVE nature and being outside.

Here we decided to go to Rock Canyon to hike :)

Happy 4th of July!

We of course went to Grampy's house for the fourth of July as is tradition. We had SO MUCH FUN! We made yummy chicken and steak skewers and played in the water for most of the day. It was even more fun to have Kelly and the kids, and Chris, my brother and his new wife with us. A bunch of other cousins came over too and it was a real family event.

After tons of swimming, cannon balling, paddle boarding, eating, and fun, we walked up to the Mission Viejo street fair where we watch the fire works. This is a beautiful view of the lake from the side walk.

This was Peter's first 4th of July with my family. I think we gave him a good time. It was definitely memorable. The street fair was really fun to walk down and we got snow cones and kettle corn. The fire works were great, but I am so grateful we got to be with family. I am so grateful for this country and all the service men and women who fight to maintain our freedom! It has always been my dream to serve in the military. I hope one day to be a nurse in the military (Navy because my grampy was in the Navy). I can think of no better job than to care for and help those men and women who fight for our country! I am proud to be an American.

California Visit

I went home to visit the family recently! It was such a fun trip. Pete came down half way through and we had a wonderful time!. This is the Mission Viejo Lake that my grampy lives on. We love going over there to be with him and enjoy the scenery!

Of course we went to the beach. We love Crescent beach in Laguna Beach. It's always perfect there.

River is my brothers dog. We can't get enough of him. He's basically a mini lab! So cute.

We went to an Angels game with my cousin Jamie and her boyfriend Jason. Neither of us had been to a baseball game in a long time. It was so fun!

A hive of bees had decided to make their home in my grampy's house rafters. There were so many bees everywhere! We had someone come get the hive and they gave us the honey comb after. I got to try honey straight from the comb. It was REALLY sweet and tasted really pure.

My grampy bear! He had a fall about 2-3 months ago where he dislocated a disk in his back. Since then he had declined a bit, but he is getting better and better as we get him up and exercising.

I can never had enough pictures of the lake. It's just too pretty and there are too many good memories!

And of course we went swimming! The lake water is so warm right now. We had fun swimming after fish, jumping off the dock, and just relaxing!

We went to our nephew's piano recital. He was amazing! It was fun to go the recital, but I was sure happy I wasn't up there...I had enough piano recitals in my life to keep me happy! Good job Evan, we love you!

OC Mormon Choir Performance

My cousin Jamie is in an LDS choir in Orange County. They had a performance here in Utah. She got us tickets last minute and it was AMAZING. It was so beautiful. It was an Oratorio, which is basically scripture written to music or music written for scripture. It was the story of Christ coming in 3rd Nephi and it was so beautiful. They had the choir singers in the balcony above us so it was like surround sound. It was so beautiful. We sat 5 rows back too. We went to this soon after I got back from Ecuador so it was especially touching to think many people never have an opportunity like this to see an orchestra and choir play. To hear such beautiful music in person. It was so fun and I am so grateful I got to experience such a wonderful performance. Thanks Jamie for getting us the tickets! You did great!

Of course we went to temple square while we were there. There were so many weddings going on it was hard to get a good picture!

Manti Pageant

I finally made it to the Manti Pageant! I have been in Utah about 5 years now and this was my first time going. Giving myself a break, I usually don't stay in Utah for the summer, but I was finally here to see this great show! It was really cool. It is done on the side of the Manti temple with a bunch of people from the community. I would say that it reminded me of a really well done road show (i miss those things! Do they still do them?). Anyway, Pete and I had a great time people watching as we waited for it to start and throughout the show!

We Moved!!

Ok, I know I have a lot to blog about Ecuador and my experiences there, but 3 days before I went to Ecuador Pete and I moved! Kinda crazy. Not gonna lie, I was freaking out about moving and then leaving the country. It all worked out really well though and we love our new place. It already feels like home. Here are the upgrades about it: 2nd bedroom, Washer/dryer in unit, 2 blocks from campus, covered parking, and it's the SAME PRICE as our other apt! We couldn't pass this deal up so we moved.

Memorial Day

Ok, I love days that help us to remember how blessed we are to live in the US and to remember all those who have lost their lives striving to maintain our freedoms. Ever since in can remember I have loved and the respected the military with all my heart. I think it is amazing what they do and ever since high school I have wanted to serve in the armed forces. My mom said she would never let me, but I still hope I will someday. When I started nursing school I thought it would perfect to be a nurse in the military - the Navy (like my Grampy). Then I could truly serve and help others who are serving our country. Pete doesn't want me to have to go to boot camp though. It is still and always will be a dream of mine to serve my country in the armed forces, but I will serve my country in every other way I can until then.

I got back from Ecuador yesterday and living there for 3 weeks taught me how truly blessed I am to have been born in the US with so many opportunities and blessing. Where much is given, much is required. When I was going through immigration, the guy said at the end, "Well Carly, welcome home". Those words have never stuck with me like they have now. I truly am home. I am proud to call the US my home and I am proud to be an American.

We drove by the cemetery today and there were flowers everywhere! I love it. I love the armed forces and all the men and women who have served, are serving, and will serve (hopefully me).

El Primer Dia

Well, we finally got to Ecuador. It was a long flight and a long customs line but we got here. The guy at customs couldn't believe i was married and 23. haha. Haven't had that happen before...i have probably been in Utah too long. THen we went to our hotel and were able to sleep a little bit. Luckily we have AC in our room or else it would be REALLY muggy.

After that we went and took a tour of the one of the hospitals we will be working at. Just walking through today made me so grateful for our medical system in the US. We are so blessed to have adequate staffing and nice buildings. I am excited to be able to help and learn there. WE then went to lunch at the Continental cafe. I had rice, beans, steak, and platanos...mmmmm. Then we went across the street to an Iguana park. There were so many! and a bunch of turtles in a pond there. They have beautiful catedrals here! We really want to go to a mass one sunday. We get to go to church here tomorrow. I am excited :) I love church and spanish. So church + spanish = mejor! After lunch we went grocery shopping, slept for awhile, then went for a walk by the Malecon river. WHAT A BIG river. IT was so wide and really pretty. THey have lots of public attractions things like cool parks and recreation areas. I love it. Now it is time too rest. Buenas Noches.

Easters

For Easter, we hid our Easter baskets for each other. Then we had a race to see who could find it first. I won! Pete wasn't too happy at first, but then i got him to smile. It was a great day at church with great talks about the Savior :) We went up to Peter's family and had dinner with them. It was great day to remember the Savior, the fact that he conquered death, and through him we will rise again someday. I am grateful for my Savior and that we get to celebrate Easter and his resurrection.

Pete took me to the Opera for Christmas :)
It was a good experience. I think the Opera is something that I will have to get used to or maybe Little Women should not be made into an Opera. haha. Thanks baby for taking me!!!

To my surprise, I received a letter in the mail today informing me I have been awarded a scholarship from my gerontology minor department! I completely forgot that I applied for this scholarship! I am so excited :) This is definitely going to help out next semester, and I just really love old people :)

I went to Washington DC! It was a really great trip. I went with a professor I have been doing research with in the College of Nursing for an immunization conference! It was a really great experience. I presented a poster of our research with one of my good friends Whitney. When we weren't at the conference we got to do some sightseeing. We first wen to the Jefferson memorial and the cherry blossoms. We walked all the way around the big pond and saw all the monuments there. The second day we sent to DC cupcakes and had some dinner at the thunder bird bar and grill. The third day we went to the national holocaust museam. That was really cool. The last day we went to the air and space museum, and the Washington monument. It was fantastic trip!

Here is my funny experience for the day:

I have to go to the bathroom really bad so I walk over and walk straight into the bathroom. I checked one stall and it was occupied so i went to the next. I got into a stall and sat down. I had to take care of some feminine needs and realized that the stall did not have the little trashcan in it. I started thinking how weird that BYU would make a woman's bathroom without the little trashcans in the stalls - how impractical, and man, this bathroom is a lot smaller than other ones on campus. So i get up, open the door, and to my amazement I see a guy standing at a urinal!!!! Luckily his back was to me so I hurriedly shut the door and locked it. OH CRAP was the first thing that went through my head. Then i looked at the shoes next door....definitely mens loafers!. I AM IN THE MENS BATHROOM - No wonder there wasn't a little trash can!!! So then I waited, standing in the stall with my backpack on - heart racing, for the guy at the urinal to walk out. He finally does, but right then another guy comes in...I wait, have to listen to him pee, wash his hands (I have NEVER wanted somebody to wash their hands faster in my life than at this moment) and walk out. FINALLY A CHANCE FOR FREEDOM! Then i hear the guy in the other stall who has been stinkin it up flush the toilet. I DART out of my stall and out the door before he can come out and rush swiftly in the woman's bathroom and wash my hands. Then i start laughing at myself. I like to think God laughed at my experience too. Gotta love these mishaps of life, right?

Every year the nursing program has free ice skating the with accounting and business programs. So Pete and I went and had a great time! Pete is an excellent Ice skater and showed off his great moves. Fun date night.

Peter was accepted into the Master's Program for Biology here at BYU!!!!! Pete says the Picture above is a face of relief! haha. We are so excited to know where and what we will be doing for the next few years!
This whole time we pretty much thought Pete would be a shoo-in. He had a professor to work with, a project that had funding, great grades and test scores. Well right before this, Pete's professor told him that they were only taking a small number, which started worrying us! Pete was able to go to the office and pick up the letter before they sent it out in the mail and read it! Again, we are so excited!

We are both stoked and relieved!!!! yay for being at a great school and close to family still :) And I can finish my last semester at BYU. Great day!

Valentine's Day Weekend!!

This was probably the best Valentines day so far! Pete and I celebrated it with activities the Saturday before. Pete seriously listened to me the weeks before. I had mentioned earlier that I really wanted to go snowboarding soon. Then he surprised me with Snowboarding!!!! I was so excited. Especially since Pete had never snowboarded before! He was willing to sacrifice his body so we could go together :) He did a really really great job!

After snowboarding we watched the rest of the BYU basketball game! Woot cougars and Jimmer :) Then we went out to dinner at Magleby's Fresh (one of my favorite restaurants!). It was Delicious!!!!

Later that night he gave me a present! It is a new scrabble game that you can play as an individual! (a friend had the game New Years Eve, and Pete remembered the I liked it...so he got it for me...what a winner :))

Then on Monday, Pete had more stuff for me! I was seriously pampered this year :) He got me flowers, my favorite candy, and a vase that I had mentioned (a few days before) that i liked at Walmart.

In return, I got him cinnamon lips from the bookstore and a Jimmer shirt!!! Jimmer is pretty big in our house. I believe the order for Pete goes: 1-God 2-Me 3-Jimmer and BYU basketball....hahah, but seriously. He was pretty excited to get the shirt. We both had a great Valentines day!

Fall has been a very busy time for Pete and me! School is really busy, but we have managed to do some of the fun things that fall brings! We took a drive up the canyon to see all the pretty colors :)
When I was walking with my friend Stephanie one day, we found a yard with pumpkin patch! The kids was selling them, so Pete and I went back and picked out a pumpkin! It was so fun :) I can't wait to go to the pumpkin patch with our kids someday :)

We had a great anniversary! We started out by giving each other presents! Pete gave me a coupon book for lots of good stuff...including the picture of Christ! I gave him a poem, and wrote out a bunch of my journal entries of while we were dating. We then went to the Mayan for dinner :) and it was tasty! Pete had a fun time too because there was a bunch of Japanese people right by us and Pete was able to talk to them. From there we went to a Salt Lake Real game!! It was awesome! We had great seats and Real won! We had a great day and great first anniversary!

I it looks great on him and this may be TMI, but it's not bad to kiss either! The Meyers family had a reunion! I got to meet lots of aunts, uncles and cousins! Pete had a great time re-connecting with his extended family! We went to Snowbird one of the days to do some hiking, ziplining and alpine skiing! Then we went to a chapel and watched a slide show of pictures from the family. Overall, it was a great reunion!!!

Monday Monday

Today was a good day! Pete went to work and worked on his poster that he is presenting in Oregon. I did tae bo, showered ran an errand with Maryjane, and then we laid out by the pool! After that I picked up Pete and we made burgers and baked french fries. Both were delicious! We are becoming quite the cooks ;)

After that, we did FHE and of course, watched us some world cup :) Great day!

Surprise Date: Tracy Aviary

This weekend I decided to take Pete on a surprise date! I love surprises. I thought since he recently took a bird class, and points out every bird we see when we walk, that he would love the Aviary! He was definitely surprised and excited when we got there!

Pete said that the vulture was sunbathing and that's why the wings were out!

The aviary was pretty cool. It was really affordable and I had a buy one get on free, so it was a cheap date! There were lots of cool birds there, and Pete knew most of them off the top of his head (smarty pants).

After the aviary, we were both hungry, so we ate here! It was pretty delicious and they had the world cup playing! Great day, great date :)

Strawberry Days

Unfortunately we had to leave before that, but we got some last year and we still remember how great it was! The Hot dogs we made were really good! We love summer BBQs :)

This was our first attempt at making homemade lasagna. It turned out pretty well! It needed a little more sauce, but other than that it was delicious! We were so proud of ourselves :)

I also got a new backpack! We were able to go to the REI garage sale with some friends. This awesome backpack normally cost $115, and I got it for 55!!! I was in dire need of a new backpack too, my old one had a hole in it!

Fun Filled Saturday

Yesterday we had a busy, but fun Saturday!!! It started off by going to the Utah lake festival with Darren and Nicole.It was such a beautiful day out side!!

Then Pete took me on a date! We went bowling and then got Sub zero ice cream after!! We won't say who won, but just that we had a lot of fun!!!

After that, we went to a wedding reception for a friend of Pete's, and then hung out with our friends Sean and Rachel! We went swimming and watched Alice in Wonderland!

Our Memorial Day Trip

So we started our trip by heading down to St. George! We were able to stay with Nicole's sister! Her kids were adorable and we loved playing with them. These pictures (starting from the bottom) are from Snow canyon, Dixie rock - the crack!, and Angel's landing in Zion National Park. It was a great trip and a much needed get away :)

This was the crack at Dixie rock. It was very narrow! We loved it and it inspired us to get in better shape! It is our goal to always be able to fit through the crack!

Weekend Getaway!!

Peter got his netbook today! Hooray! He has been anxious to get his netbook since we ordered it on Thursday! He is so excited. This is his first computer (that he has owned)! He was so cute waiting for it, hoping everyday when we got home that it would be there waiting for him! Well it finally got here! He was so cute while opening it, I had to take pictures of the little boy inside coming out to see his new toy!

So I didn't get to see my mom this mothers day....I missed her a lot. Luckily I was down in California last weekend, so I got to spend some time with her then. I love her so much and she has been the best mother I could ask for; she has sacrificed so much for her kids and given us the love and example we needed. I love you mom :)

Date Night

For our date night last Friday, we decided to go to Nickel City!!! Before we went to dinner at a place called Pastorero. It was great with most authentic Mexican food I've had in Provo! Then we went to nickel city and rocked the arcade games! It was so so fun! Our favorite games were: deal or no deal, ski ball, and the football throw! We were able to get a fun, squishy ball (which Pete is obsessed with....he is playing with it right now as he studies), and a Swedish fish candy. Anyway, it was a great night of fun!

Today I didn't have school. I start my classes tomorrow since they are only MWF. Pete unfortunately has class everyday - such a hard worker!. Anyway, I was very productive with my time off. Here is how my day went:

Pete and I re-signed our contract. We will be living here for another wonderful year!

I called about my lap top warranty for my old computer, and need to send it in to get fixed!

And I FINALLY had some time to write Thank you cards from my wedding!

The rest of the day Pete and I just relaxed, We both got some homework done for our classes tomorrow, watched the basketball game, read scriptures, and snuggled. It was such a great day!!!

Hooray! Pete and I are both done with finals!!!! It was a long, long semester, but it is finally at an end. We are both taking spring classes, but for me at least, they are classes I want to take (Spanish and Family finance!). Pete is taking a chem lab that he never took, history of creativity, and physics. His classes will definitely be tougher than mine. So in one of my classes this semester the final was crazy hard, and everyone did poorly. Our teachers decided to grade on a curve, guess who ended up setting the curve.....:). It totally made my day! HF definitely helped on my finals this semester!

Today we are going to look for a bike for me so that Pete and I can ride our bikes to campus during spring and so we can ride for fun!
We need to go deposit checks! Yay for more money in dwindling accounts!
I found out I got scholarship for next year! It always helps!
My cousin Matt is graduating today and tomorrow! Along with some of my best friends :)!!! I am jealous of them, yet so so excited for them to start a new journey in life!
It is a beautiful day outside......I hope we go and play at the park!
My grampy is in town for Matt's graduation! Pete and I get to hang out with him on Saturday. We might take him to the tulip festival...if it's not raining.
We decided to stay in our apartment complex for next year. It's a relief not having to think about moving... even though an extra bedroom would be very nice.
It is earth day, and I love the earth. I love my lord who made this beautiful earth for us to live on. Every time I walk outside I marvel at how beautiful each day is, how each sunset or sky is moving artwork. Always changing, yet so familiar. I love the earth.

That is all that is new. Life is good. I love my husband, He loves me. We love God and all his mercy and blessings that he gives us.

So on Thursday I had to opportunity to watch REAL surgeries on peoples' eyes, and the bones around the eyes. It was AWESOME! I didn't get queasy at all, but in fact couldn't get enough. On the very last surgery, I stood 45 minutes straight, 2 feet away from the surgeon, just watching. Surgeons are so brave; to be able to cut into someone's face and know you will be able to fix it must be some amazing confidence. Anyway, I loved it, i loved it, i loved it.
